Our Local Environment: Stonington, Connecticut
Nov 20th
We loved learning about the environments of Sointula, Canada and Reefton, New Zealand so much that we decided to make a video about our environment also.
We live in the town of Stonington in the state of Connecticut. We are right on the Atlantic coast between New York City and Boston. Some of us live in the village of Mystic which is part of Stonington.
We hope you enjoy the video!

How is your environment similar to ours?
How is it different?
Our Local Environment: Reefton, NZ
Nov 15th
We also live in an area of temperate rainforest. Reefton is in a valley surrounded by hills and mountains. Our winters can be frosty or foggy or rainy and the summers can be hot.
Reefton is inland and it takes an hour to drive to the closest ocean (and to the nearest big towns).
Our town has a mining history. Nowadays there are fewer mines and more dairy farms.
Visitors come here for the tramping, biking, rafting, fishing, the mine tours and the history.
Why do people visit your town?
The Local Environment in Sointula
Nov 13th
Welcome to week 4 of the “Our World, Our Stories” project!
This week the topic is:
Our Local Environment
We thought we would share what the local environment is like on our little island. Sointula is located on Malcolm Island.

We live in a temperate rainforest, which means that we get a lot of rain and it never gets very hot or very cold. We are surrounded by beautiful forests, the ocean, and the mountains. Our island is home to birds, deer, mink, and otters. The waters surrounding our island are full of porpoises, whales, seals, sea lions, salmon, octopuses, and many other creatures.
It has been very rainy this last week, so we used the green screen to make a video showing you some of the different areas of our island. We hope you like it!
